He began wrestling in first grade and continued competing through college at the University of Illinois at Champaign–Urbana. Through those years in the sport, he developed a deep appreciation not only for wrestling itself, but for the powerful role athletics can play in shaping young people.
Wrestling Room Collective was founded out of Guy’s belief that sports provide one of the best environments for developing character. He believes coaches have a responsibility to build kids up—helping them grow as athletes while also developing mental toughness, emotional maturity, and strong values.
Many of the lessons learned through wrestling extend far beyond the mat, including discipline, resilience, respect, and work ethic. Guy believes coaches often have the opportunity to become one of the most influential people in a young person’s life, and that influence should be used intentionally and positively.
Having been shaped by coaches who modeled these principles well, Guy founded Wrestling Room Collective to pass those same lessons on to the next generation.
